Governors

As part of the Wood Farm and Slade Federation, the Slade Nursery School and Day Nursery shares its governing body with Wood Farm Primary School.

The governing body is the strategic decision making body of the federation. There are a variety of different roles within the governing board which involve working with the head teacher, executive head teacher and senior leaders to ensure the children at the school get the best possible education, are happy and safe and enjoy their time at school. As well as supporting our dedicated leaders and staff, governors also act as 'critical friends' to challenge where necessary to ensure that we deliver our objectives.

Members of the Governing Body, including declared interests

Governors are volunteers who bring their outside experience into the school.  The governing body meets throughout the year: the full governing body meets six times a year and there are a range of committees that look at different aspects of the work of the school and nursery. Governors are a mixture of elected and appointed individuals. It includes parent governors, a local authority governor, co-opted Governors, the Headteacher, staff representatives.

The governing body's role is to work with us to set the Federation's overall direction, ensure that we manage our finances effectively, and to hold the school and nursery to account for setting's performance.

Governors get involved in the life of our federation as much as they can - whether by volunteering to help at a school event, taking part in a project, or by just visiting to keep up to date with our work and learning.
