Our Curriculum
At the Slade Nursery School and Day Nursery, we follow the guidance and requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework for group and school based providers, and have shaped our curriculum around this.
Our curriculum is fully accessible and adapted for children with SEND. For more information on our inclusive practice see the 'Inclusion' pages of our website.
The EYFS framework:
- sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure children learn and develop well
- ensures children are kept healthy and safe
- ensures children have the knowledge and skills they need to start school
We use the guidance from Development Matters Development Matters Guidance Document, Birth to Five Matters Birth to 5 Matters document and Nurturing Care Framework Nurturing Care Framework to inform our practice and provision to ensure we provide the best possible care, learning and experiences for all of our children.
The EYFS framework covers seven areas of learning in the EYFS: there are three prime areas and four specific areas;
Prime areas:
- Communication and Language development
- Personal, Social and Emotional development
- Physical development
Specific areas:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Art and Design
We have shaped our values-based curriculum around these areas, as well additional experiences and learning we think are important. See the links below to understand more about our fantastic curriculum.
